A Virtual White Cane White canes are useful navigation tools for the visually impaired but they are difficult to use in crowded environments and their size makes them difficult to store once the user reaches their destination. This paper presents an electronic white cane replacement, which could significantly reduce these problems. User testing confirms that the virtual white cane has potential as a replacement for the traditional white cane.
