Psychophysics of thermal perception has some unique features like spatial summation and poor spatial resolution & acuity. In addition, thermal perception is closely related to the properties of thermal stimuli (i.e., rate of temperature change, amplitude, duration). Depending on the nature of the thermal stimuli, thermal illusions like synthetic heat and thermal grill effects may occur. In this study some of the aforementioned features, namely, the effect of temperature change on thermal thresholds of sensation of warm and cool and the effect of thermal stimuli area on thermal perception are investigated.
