Earlier work has been done on determining the Just Noticeable Difference (JND) on human skin followed by adequate statistical analysis. Here, we extended that work and compared the JND between soft tissue and bone. A comparative study was performed, in which five subjects had to discriminate the smallest detectable difference between bone and tissue areas on three different body location. A small vibration motor was used to transmit the vibrations to the test location. Matlab software was used to analyze the collected data. Results indicated that bone had higher sensitivity than soft tissue.
