A Comparison of the Just Noticeable Difference (JND) Between Strong and Weak Individuals Ernst Heinrich Weber discovered that the JND for weight detection is 2%. We set out to investigate if the 2% weight detection holds true between strong individuals and weak individuals, using our criteria of a strong individual as a person who can curl 35 pounds with one arm. By using a set of scientific metric weights, we used 2 reference weights of 100 grams and 1 kilogram and increased the weight percentages by a possible 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4%. The subjects had no visual or auditory feedback during the experiment. Using an ANOVA, we discovered that there was no difference in the 2% weight threshold between strong and weak individuals (P = 0.552).
